Highland Treasures Trail

The towering jagged mountains and dramatic sandy beaches of the Scottish Highlands serve up plenty of contrast for an area steeped in history. This landscape was the backdrop of clan rebellions and the infamous Highland Clearances that saw Scots take their culture to North America and Australasia.

Today the Highlands are a more civilised place with plenty on offer to welcome visitors. Inverness, the Highland capital, is well connected with good air, rail and road links.

Golf in the Highlands has been put on the map in recent years with the opening of Spey Valley and Castle Stuart and the exposure both have received from hosting major competitions. The quality of golf on offer in the region has never been in doubt, however. The names of Royal Dornoch and Nairn resonate loudly in the minds of golfers, and when you add in gems like Moray Old and Boat of Garten, golf in the Highlands should not be overlooked.

If you’re heading to the Highlands from Aberdeen, you might want to consider a round on one of our Editor’s Choice courses. There is a choice of four fantastic parkland courses that might just tempt you to stay another day.
